President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Beardsley has served as Kereos’ President and CEO, and as a board member, since January 2003. Prior to joining Kereos, Dr. Beardsley was acting CEO and a Board member of Metaphore Pharmaceuticals where he played key roles in two successful private equity fundraising rounds. In addition, he is the cofounder and former Managing Member of SImile Investors, LLC., and has held a number of positions in biotechnology and life science related firms, including bioStrategies Group and Vector Securities International. Dr. Beardsley currently serves on the boards of Collagenex Pharmaceuticals, BioSeek and Missouri Biotechnology Association (MOBIO). He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering and a B.S.Ch.E. from the University of Iowa, along with an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago.

Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Matthes joined Kereos as CFO in October 2003 and brings more than 15 years of financial management experience with her. Before joining Kereos, Ms. Matthes managed her own financial services company in which she acted as temporary CFO for various start-up biotechnology companies in the St. Louis area, including Kereos. Prior to this, she was Chief Financial Officer for Megan Health, a vaccine development company, until its sale to Avant Immunotherapeutics. Previously, Ms. Matthes served as Controller and Manager, Financial Planning for Bock Pharmacal. In her role as CFO she brings experience in private equity for start-up companies, business valuation, forecasting, and strategic planning. Ms. Matthes holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri and earned her CPA license while at Coopers and Lybrand.

Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality
Mr. Buckler joined Kereos in May of 2004 as Vice President of
Regulatory Affairs and
Quality. Because Kereos is pursuing pre-clinical and clinical development with extensive use of external resources, this is a key role and essential to ensuring smooth progress with the FDA. Previously he was Vice President of Quality at Metaphore Pharmaceuticals, where he established that company’s QA unit and also led the filing of multiple INDs. He joined Metaphore in 2001 as Director of Quality Assurance/Quality Control following a 20-year career at ABC Laboratories where he held several positions including Director of Compliance and Safety, Regulatory Affairs Officer, and Supervisor of Quality Assurance. He holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of Missouri.

Vice President of Biology
Dr. Nickols joined Kereos in October of 2005 as Vice President of Biology following a 25 year career spanning both the pharmaceutical industry and the academic sector. Most recently, he was a Science Fellow and Director of Pharmacology at Pfizer Global Research & Development where he led new drug projects in several therapeutic areas including cancer. Dr. Nickols has held positions at other companies including Pharmacia, Searle, and Monsanto as well as academic appointments at St. Louis University, the University of Texas Medical Branch, and Southern Illinois University. At Kereos, he will be responsible for preclinical pharmacology, and will focus primarily on the in vitro and in vivo testing needed to move imaging and chemotherapeutic agents into clinical trials. Dr. Nickols holds a B.A. in Zoology and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology both from the University of Missouri and is a Fellow of the American Heart Association.

Vice President of Development
Dr. Riley joined Kereos as Vice President of Development in December 2003. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Metaphore Pharmaceuticals, where he successfully led all of Metaphore’s research and development efforts including advancing the company’s two lead candidates into clinical trials. Dr. Riley joined Metaphore in 1999 as Vice President of Research, following a 15 year career at Monsanto, where he held several positions including Senior Science Fellow and Manager of Metal-Mediated Chemistry in Monsanto's Corporate Research Division. Prior to Monsanto he was Section Head of Process Chemistry at Procter & Gamble Corporate Technology Division. Dr. Riley holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Ohio State University and a B.S. degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Heidelberg College, and was a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Jack Halpern at the University of Chicago.

Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Lanza co-founded Kereos in 1999. In addition to his advisory role at Kereos, he is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to his medical career, Dr. Lanza spent eight years at Monsanto Company as the Product Biology, Preclinical Research Manger for PosilacR, a unique, recombinant DNA-based biotechnology product used extensively in the dairy industry. Dr. Lanza holds an M.D. from Northwestern University, a Ph.D. and M.S. in Genetics from University of Georgia, and a B.A. in Biology from Colby College.
